50-Year-Old Man Arrested After Faking Heart Attack In 20 Restaurants To Avoid Paying Bill
A 50-year-old man has been arrested in Spain after faking heart attack in at least 20 restaurants to avoid paying bill.
According to police source, the 50-year-old Lithuanian man living in Spain was arrested last month in Alicante after attempting to leave a restaurant without settling his bill by pretending to be unwell.
The unnamed scammer has been accused of eating fancy dinner from local restaurants for free. His photo was circulated among restaurants in the region as a warning.
In the most recent incident, he ordered two whiskeys and seafood paella at El Buen Corner and received a bill for $36.75.
After the restaurant staff informed him of the outstanding bill, the man claimed he was going to his hotel room to get cash but the staff refused to let him leave without paying.
The 50-year-old man then dramatically threw himself to the ground and pretended to have a heart attack.
The restaurant called the police instead of the ambulance. Police officers instantly recognized the scammer and caused his arrest immediately.
